Chisinau Kishinev Moldova : Apartments more popular than hotels

Private rentals apartments are more popular than staying in hotels here in Chisinau.

Why?

1. More personal and more freedom, all home comfort.
2. Hotels are very expensive and mostly with old 'Soviet' equipment, curtains, carpets, beds and lift ... but European / American prices

>> 'google' and type "rent apartment Chisinau directly from owner" and you will find enough of them.

But:

>> Look for good pictures and descriptions for each apartment and ask first 2 or 3 times information by email

>> Look for a good location and most of all on which level it is (a lot of them cheaper but on 4th or 5th level and NO LIFT)

>> Ask if possible at least 30 - 45days ahead so you also can book apex air-tickets and thus travel cheaper

>> Note that through agencies, prices are offered more expensive then they really are: they include 5 and 15€ per day commission. So try to include in internet search: "rent apartment Chisinau directly from owner" (be aware for example CVS.md tells ‘no commission’ but owners have to pay 100-300€ per apartment per year to be on site)

EXAMPLE OF GOOD APARTMENTS:

Type in search:
Puskin 30-17 (for a 2 bedroom apartment)
or cel mare 64-15 (for a one bedroom flat),
or contact Svetlana & Daniel on www.chisinau-moldova.com

Also, don’t forget to go to the “bazaar” to buy the fresh local vegetables, meat, cheese and fruit and prepare your own dishes. Don't forget to buy the FRESH MILK and SMINTANA from the 'babushkas' on the street corners of the bazars ....................

ENJOY during the day the fresh products before drinking some of the good local vodka - cognac - beer - wine in a bar ...

does this work for travel?

If I am planning a long trip somewh3ere like china or latin america is staying in an apartment an option I can consider? I am fine with a hotel if its necessary but I would prefer something like an apartment where i can cook my own food if i want to. i know there are places you can get an apartment in the Us and just rent it out or whatever. I woudl like to do this in CHina or latin america, is this possible?

Yes I think so

I have not rented in the specific Latin locations you are talking about, but I have rented apartments on vacation in many other places like Europe and canada. It's so much better then a hotel its almost hard to believe. a hotel is good but if its really good it will be way to expensive for what you get. For the same kind of price for a nice hotel you can have a full kitchen and ultimately save a lot of money by not having to eat out EVERY MEAL! I have always liked apartments when i'm going to be somwehre for more than a week or so, good luck
